Money saving hint: Although scanners that are sold "a la carte" may look cheaper, a "bundled" package may be available that could save you money. Verify that you are comparing apples to apples, make sure your scanner quote includes the same quantity and quality of items, such as stand, software and on-site warranty.

Most important consideration: For scanning engineering drawings, your better investment choice is usually a CIS technology scanner, however not all CIS scanners are equal.

Shopping hint: Also consider color scanners when shopping for black and white. Some do not cost that much more than monochrome, should hold a higher resale value and will capture a better scan for anything faded or discolored.
