Money saving hints: If you plan to scan mostly maps and charts as distinguished from photographs, you may be able to buy an 8-Bit color scanner (256) colors and save $$. Using scanners with an Energy Star rated LED light source will save you on electricity.

Most important consideration: Do you need CCD or CIS technology? Are you scanning line drawings or artwork?

Shopping hint: Before ordering an "extended" warranty on your scanner call the warrantee provider and see how quickly they answer the phone. If you get a recorded message you might may want to rethink the warranty purchase.
